The War on Free Speech Intensifies (Richard Dawkins is Latest Casualty)

JANUARY 28, 2016 BY  8 COMMENTS

“Politics is downstream from culture,” Andrew Breitbart observed, and the same is true of law. Criminal prosecutions for “hate Tweets” do not come from out of nowhere. When you passively accept censorship within the private sector, censorship becomes part of the culture.Law is downstream from culture, Breitbart might have added.

Richard Dawkins is a liberal atheists feminist, as he’ll often say, in a, “But I’m a good boy!” tone of voice. His credentials were not enough to save him from being fired from a speaking gig. His offense?

He linked to this corny video comparing feminism to radical Islam.

Readers are split. Some of you think this video is hilarious, others do not.

Whatever you think, the video isn’t remotely “hate speech,” whatever that stupid word means these days.

The woman in the video being caricatured is Big Red – a woman who gained fame for acts of vandalism and violence during a protest in Canada.

Dawkins was told – and apparently believed, that posting a video critical of Big Red would incite others to commit acts of violence against her.

Tweeting a link to a video was enough to get Dawkins fired.

Dawkins has lost one speaking gig already.

The Northeast Conference on Science & Skepticism has withdrawn its invitation to Richard Dawkins to participate at NECSS 2016. We have taken this action in response to Dr. Dawkins’ approving re-tweet of a highly offensive video.

We believe strongly in freedom of speech and freedom to express unpopular, and even offensive, views. However, unnecessarily divisive, counterproductive, and even hateful speech runs contrary to our mission and the environment we wish to foster at NECSS. The sentiments expressed in the video do not represent the values of NECSS or its sponsoring organizations.

We will issue a full refund to any NECSS attendee who wishes to cancel their registration due to this announcement. The NECSS Team

Yes, NECSS believes strongly in free speech – so strongly that it fired a man for posting a link to a YouTube video.

Now Dawkins did make a major mistake. He deleted the Tweet linking to the video and apologized before he was fired. If he had read SJWs Always Lie, Dawkins would have realized that he showed weakness.

Dawkins is a moderate, and there are no room for moderates.

You’re either expressly anti-SJW, or you’re going to be swallowed up by the SJWs.

Some ask why I am “extreme.”

Add Dawkins’ name to the list of very nice men who are losing their income for not bowing down to zealots. I’ll remain Full Gorilla.

Dawkins is a genius, though he’s unwise to the ways of the world. He needs to read SJWs Always Lie and Danger & Play to understand the screwed up world we live in.

Feminist acts of violence in Colombian campus

English translation of an official statement issued by Del Valle University (Cali, Colombia)

Del Valle University, 16th January 2016

The Academic Council condemns the acts of violence committed on the university campus on January 13th.

On January 13th, at 6:30 p.m., a group of hooded people threw a lethal device known as a papa explosiva (explosive potato) at the central administration building. Later, they distributed newsletters and spray-painted slogans, identifying themselves as Tejido Rebelde (Rebel Tissue/Fabric) and calling for feminist self-defense. The bomb exploded inside the office of the Vice-president of Investigation, and the blast wave seriously injured Sandra Juliana Toro, former director of the International Relations Office, a public servant who has enabled hundreds of university students to study on foreign campuses. Sandra Juliana was admitted to the Clínica de Occidente medical center with allegedly permanent ear injuries. Luckily, just minutes before the explosion, another woman had left the office. It is therefore just a coincidence that we are not lamenting the death or mutilation of another member of the university community.

The Academic Council wishes to show solidarity with Sandra Juliana Toro, to send her a message of encouragement and to condemn, vigorously, these acts of violence that make an attempt on the life of defenseless people, like the central administration staff or any other member of the university community. Nothing can justify these kinds of acts. The University is a center of culture, knowledge, peace-building and unconditional respect for life, where our youth is educated on society’s highest values, on the defense of democracy and respect for human rights and ethnic, racial and gender differences. Therefore, nothing could more alien to the university ethos than these acts of violence that damage the university. Let’s take into account that these days, in La Habana, the end of a 60-plus years conflict is being negotiated through dialogue; a conflict that has inflicted pain, death and bloodshed on Colombian society. Thus, the Academic Council finds it contradictory and incomprehensible, to say the least, that these groups continue to make use of violent action, especially considering that the student movement has recently shown political maturity: under MANE’s [Mesa Amplia Nacional Estudiantil, “National Student Board”] coordination, they have managed to bring governmental policies into question and even make them backtrack. Even more recently, they managed to draw the attention of both the government and the Cauca Valley’s society towards supporting the Hospital Universitario del Valle [Del Valle University Hospital]. On the contrary, several decades of violent expression by means of the tropel [“the horde”, a violent and riot-like protest, usually involving university students and police intervention] never extended past the Pasoancho district, and just achieved demobilization and tragic events like the death or mutilation of students and young police officers.

The feminist movement has historically been a peaceful, democratic, life-defending movement, and it gave society the most important counter-cultural revolution of modern history. Therefore, it is politically incongruous that these actions, that are claimed to be on behalf of women, ended up affecting, both physically and psychologically, a woman, of all things.

Besides this public condemnation and call for solidarity, the University will be reporting the personal injuries and damage to public property, as these actions go beyond political expression and fit within criminal legislation.

The Academic Council encourages the students, staff, professors, workers and women organizations to express their thoughts through politically vigorous actions, but always contributing to the building of a peace culture that is very necessary for the country and for those who coexist daily at Public University.

“The feminist movement has historically been a peaceful, democratic, life-defending movement, and it gave society the most important counter-cultural revolution of modern history.”

First sentence, no it hasn’t. The white feather campaign which shamed innumerable boys around , under and over 16 to go and die in horrific ways to further their cause (where they could go and claim that females and feminists would never be responsible for such abhorrent loss of life, despite their DIRECT culpability for it), that’s before counting how their earlier and differently named parts were responsible for the fall of rome or the other incarnations of ‘female supremacy’ (moral supremacy, leading supremacy … whatever they all claim to be superior to males at some point).

Second sentence, no they didn’t give rise to the most important counter cultural revolution of modern history, its a rehash of millennial old counter culture that has only ever resulted in the destruction of the societies it infests.

Overall. Your continued defence of them is to support them. If you support them, you can’t cherry pick. You therefore agree with what they did and why. You are ‘nice feminist’ TM and are out as the bait to coerce more evenly minded into joining the ’cause’ so that some can go on to become these people that use violence. If you aren’t why make claims about them that you obviously didn’t and woundn’t research without their express approval? They are not historically life defending.
