Why alcohol makes people violent, solved by scientists

The mystery of why alcohol makes people violent has finally been solved.

Scientists recruited 50 young men and asked them to consume either vodka or placebo drinks which were alcohol free.

They found that after just two drinks activity diminished in the prefrontal cortex of the brain - an area which is involved in tempering a person’s level of aggression.

Although experts had suspected for some time that the prefrontal cortex was involved, it is the first time it has been seen happening.

Dr Thomas Denson of the University of New South Wales in Australia, said: “Although there was an overall dampening effect of alcohol on the prefrontal cortex, even at a low dose of alcohol we observed a significant positive relationship between dorsomedial and dorsolateral prefrontal cortex activity and alcohol-related aggression.

“These regions may support different behaviors, such as peace versus aggression, depending on whether a person is sober or intoxicated.”

To find out the real-time effects of alcohol on the brain, scientists used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans that measure blood flow and show which areas are most active.

Participants were given alcohol or placebo then asked to complete a provoking task while lying in the scanner to gauge their levels of aggression.

Being provoked was found to have no influence on participants’ neural responses.

However, when behaving aggressively, there was a dip in activity in the prefrontal cortex of the brains of those who had consumed alcoholic drinks.

This dampening effect was also seen in the areas of the brain that are involved reward. Also, heightened activity was noted in the hippocampus, the part of the brain associated with people’s memory.

“We encourage future, larger-scale investigations into the neural underpinnings of alcohol-related aggression with stronger doses and clinical samples,” added Dr Denson.

“Doing so could eventually substantially reduce alcohol-related harm.”

The research was published in the journal Cognitive, Affective & Behavioural Neuroscience.

Report Calls Out Planned Parenthood for “Systematic Coverup of Child Sexual Abuse”

“I saw the feminist movement cover up for PEDOPHILES”

With a new investigation, one pro-life group hopes to expose Planned Parenthood as an enabler of child sex abuse in the #MeToo era. But unlike other accusations, it’s unlikely the major outlets will report on the campaign shining a negative light on the abortion industry.

On Wednesday, Live Action released a report and docuseries calling out Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, for the “systemic cover-up of child sexual abuse.” In response, the group called for a government investigation and the halt of Planned Parenthood’s federal funding in order to protect “victims as young as 12 years old.”

“If you believe in #TimesUp and #MeToo, then it’s time to call out Planned Parenthood for enabling child sexual abuse,” the organization tweeted Wednesday. “It’s a favorite place for abusers to take their victims to cover their crimes. #PPCoversUpSexAbuse.”

To expose Planned Parenthood, Live Action’s new “Aiding Abusers” campaign, which consists of the report and a seven-part docuseries, documents court cases from across the country regarding child abuse.

“Planned Parenthood, required by law to report suspected abuse, has ignored victims’ pleas for help, performed abortions on victims as young as 12 years old, and returned them back to their abusers,” the campaign website warned. “Planned Parenthood’s negligence is enabling abuse and aiding abusers.”

One example of a court case documented in the report included:

“Denise Fairbanks had been sexually abused by her father since she was 13. When she became pregnant at age 16, he forced her to have an abortion at Planned Parenthood. Although she told the staff that he was raping her, they refused to report the incident. Instead, they sent her home with him where he continued to abuse her for another year-and-a-half.”

Another read:

“George Savanah had repeatedly raped his daughter and impregnated her when she was 14, 16, and 17 years old, each time taking her to Planned Parenthood and forcing her to get an abortion. Planned Parenthood neglected to report any of the three suspicious incidents to authorities.”

In the docuseries, with two episodes currently released, Live Action will focus on recorded cases, former abortion worker testimonies, statutory rape, and sex trafficking – including information from former Live Action investigations. President Lila Rose provided an overview of cases, recorded in articles and lawsuits.

Louisiana Televangelist Says God Told Him He Needs $54 Million for Fourth Private Jet, Asks Followers for Donations

Jesse Duplantis Ministries has three private jets, but Duplantis says he needs one more.

As the televangelist who preaches the controversial “prosperity gospel” explained to his followers in a video last week, if Jesus Christ walked the earth today, “he wouldn’t be riding a donkey.”

There’s just one thing: To buy that $54 million private jet (Duplantis has his eye on a Dassault Falcon 7x), the Louisiana preacher needs his followers to donate money to the cause. As for those aforementioned three jets, the most recent of which was purchased in 2006, the ministry has been “just burning them up for the Lord Jesus Christ,” Duplantis said in the video, according to NOLA.com.

The Falcon 7x, with a range of 5,950 nautical miles, is needed “so we can go anywhere in the world in one stop,” he explained. None of his other jets can do that.

Duplantis told his followers that God told him, “I want you to believe in me for a Falcon 7X.” He said viewers should “pray about becoming a partner to it.”

He addressed the possible controversial nature of his request, according to KTLA sister station WGNO in New Orleans: “Now some people believe that preachers shouldn’t have jets. I really believe that preachers ought to go on every available voice, every available outlet, to get this gospel preached to the world.”

He has defended his use of private planes in the past in what the Washington Post called a “widely mocked” video in which he and another preacher said, among other things, that you can’t speak openly to God on a commercial airliner.
