WOMEN’S RIGHTS? Man Forced To Allow Ex To Use Sperm To Get Pregnant – And Then Pay Child Support

For all we hear about women supposedly not having equal rights to men, it sure seems that in some cases, women have more rights than men.

Case in point: An Arizona court recently ruled that a woman wanting to use her ex-husband’s saved sperm to become pregnant “outweigh[ed]” the man’s desire not to become a father. Due to this court ruling, the man could also be liable for 18 years of child support.

In 2014, Ruby Torres was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer. She was told that after chemotherapy she likely wouldn’t be able to become pregnant. She and her then-boyfriend John Terrell decided to preserve some embryos so that she might one day be able to become a mother.

The couple would eventually marry but then divorced, according to the Arizona Republic. During the divorce, Terrell wanted to make sure Torres couldn’t use the embryos to become pregnant. He brought his case to the Maricopa County Superior Court, who ruled the embryos should go to a third party. Torres appealed, and received a win on March 14.

“The trial court erred when it placed heavy weight on the parties’ inability to ‘co-parent,'” Judge Jennifer B. Campbell wrote in a 2-1 decision overturning the lower court’s finding. “Nothing in the record suggests that either of them expected or intended to co-parent any offspring derived from the embryos.”

Terrell, it turns out, originally declined to donate his sperm for the embryos, but changed his mind when Torres suggested she would use an ex-boyfriend’s sperm instead. The court ruled that the couple only agreed to preserve the embryos because of the potential for Torres to be unable to conceive in the future, not for the two to co-parent at some point.

In her dissenting opinion, Judge Maria Elena Cruz wrote that Torres and Terrell signed a contract when they preserved the embryos that both parents would have to provide “express, written consent” for the embryos to be used. Torres even testified acknowledging that “we did sign a contract and we agreed to these provisions.”

The court has now ignored that contract, according to Judge Cruz.

“Do contracts matter? I believe they do,” Cruz wrote. “Therefore, because the contract of these parties explicitly prohibits the outcome reached by the majority, and because it is outside our purview to reweigh the evidence, I would affirm the trial court’s judgment, or, in the alternative, remand the matter to the trial court for a new weighing of the parties’ interests.”

The Arizona Republic reports that this case caused state legislators to pass a law last year that would free further individuals in similar situations from being responsible for children conceived against their will. The Republican describes the bill as requiring “that viable embryos from a divorced couple be awarded to the parent who will allow a child to be born” but “also states the other parent has no rights or obligations.”

This, of course, won’t help Terrell, who will likely be on the hook for child support should Torres use the embryos.

IDF fires at Hamas military post in northern Gaza

An IDF tank on Friday evening attacked a Hamas military post in the northern Gaza Strip, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed.

The attack was in response to explosive devices that had been thrown by terrorists at the security fence along the Gaza border during the evening.

Earlier, some 200 terrorists opened fire at the border fence in northern Gaza and also fired a number of shots at Israeli forces.

About 500 explosives and grenades were thrown towards the fence and the Israeli troops. There were no casualties among the IDF soldiers.

The violence along the Gaza border was the latest in the weekly riots, dubbed the “March of the Return”, which have going on every Friday since March 30, 2018.

Gazan terrorists are planning additional riots on Saturday, as they mark the one-year anniversary of the “March of the Return” protests as well as Land Day.

Earlier, the head of the Coordination and Liaison Administration in Gaza, Colonel Iyad Sarhan, directly addressed the residents of Gaza and called on them to distance themselves from the elements and acts of terror.

The violent riots continued on Friday despite earlier reports that Israel and Hamas, with Egyptian mediation, had reached preliminary agreements on restoring calm along the Gaza border.

NYC Councilman Kalman Yeger faces sanction after telling a historical fact that “Palestine” as a nation does not exist

PLO leader Zuheir Mohsen tells the truth in 1977 about the invention of “Palestine” as part of the struggle against Israel: “The Palestinian people does not exist. … In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct “Palestinian people” to oppose Zionism. For tactical reasons, Jordan … cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan.”

Translation“Well, I dont think there is a Palestinian nation at all. I think there is an Arab nation. I always thought so and I did not change my mind. I do not think there is a Palestinian nation … When were there any Palestinians? Where did it come from? I think there is an Arab nation. I never turned to be a Palestinian nationalist, despite my decisive struggle against the occupation. I think that until the end of the 19th century, Palestine was the south of Greater Syria.”

A Brooklyn city councilman could be booted from the immigration committee after tweeting that “Palestine does not exist” — but he refused to heed calls to apologize for the comment.

“Nope,” Councilman Kalman Yeger said when asked if he’d apologize. “For what?”

Yeger tweeted on Wednesday that “Palestine does not exist,” sparking outrage from activists and eventual condemnation from elected officials who said the remark was unhelpful in moving toward a two-state solution in the Middle East.

“He should definitely apologize, and I very vigorously condemned his comments in no uncertain terms, they have no place in New York City,” Council Speaker Corey Johnson said, adding that the city celebrates both its Jewish and Palestinian communities and that Yeger’s remarks were “dehumanizing.”

“They are comments that create some sort of erasure of the Palestinian experience and I find those totally unacceptable,” Johnson said.

Nigeria: Muslims burn four churches and 28 homes, rape and murder Christian woman in raids on Christian villages

In New Zealand, a man just got fired for calling Islam “violent and destructive.” No notice is taken in such cases of incidents such as this one, as common as they are.

“Christian Woman Raped, Killed as Herdsmen Attack Two Villages in Nigeria,” Morning Star News, March 28, 2019:

JOS, Nigeria (Morning Star News) – Muslim Fulani herdsmen attacked two predominantly Christian villages in north-central Nigeria after beating, raping and killing a 19-year-old Christian woman in the pre-dawn hours on Saturday (March 23), her father said.

Danlami Mante told Morning Star News that armed Muslim Fulani herdsmen ambushed Joy Danlami and her two younger siblings as they were returning to Mante village, Nasarawa state, at about 2 a.m. after the Christians attended a community feast in Katanza village, Akwanga County. His younger daughter, 16-year-old Patience Danlami, and 14-year-old son, Aboy Danlami, escaped with gunshot and machete wounds, he said.

“The armed herdsmen chased them with dangerous weapons,” Mante told Morning Star News. “Joy’s nose and face was battered, and then she was sexually assaulted by the herdsmen before being killed. She was shot.”

After the ambush, the herdsmen proceeded to the family’s native Mante village, where they burned down 17 houses, he said. They then rampaged through Nidan village, burning another 11 homes. They also burned two Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) buildings and two belonging to the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) in the two villages, Mante said. His family belongs to the local ERCC congregation.

Hundreds of Christians displaced in the attacks have taken refuge in Akwanga town….

Nigeria ranked 12th on Open Doors’ 2019 World Watch List of countries where Christians suffer the most persecution.
