COVID-19 vaccine procurement muddled by conflicts of interest

Experts who advise the government on the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines have close ties with pharmaceutical companies, according to information gathered by Radio-Canada.

It is impossible to know the complete list of these conflicts of interest, since they are not disclosed publicly.

The federal government established the COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force in June: 12 scientists and business people, advising Ottawa, to ensure they get the tens of millions of doses of vaccine that will be needed to protect Canadians.

However, several members of this committee have business ties with pharmaceutical companies that have already signed contracts with the government, or are in the process of obtaining one.
